When you first start the Parcel Information Viewer you will see a map of Boone County with prominent highways and communities labeled. For help at any time, click the HELP link in the search menu frame or move your mouse over a button to see it's funtion.
Measuring or Calculating Acreage With your mouse, left-click on the Measure tool in the tool bar along the bottom part of the viewer window. Next, click on the map to define the starting point from which you want to measure. Your cursor will be a 'cross' shape and your point will be marked by a yellow dot.
As you move your cursor, the distance from your dot will be shown at the top of the map. Each yellow line connected by 2 dots is a 'segment'. Click somewhere else on the map to create a second yellow dot. The distance of this segment is now shown in the 'total distance' at the top of the map.
As you create more segments, the total distance of these segments is displayed and once you have created more than three, the acreage of the area enclosed by all the segments will be show at the top of the map.
Zooming Let's get in a bit closer. With your mouse, left-click on the Zoom In tool in the tool bar along the bottom part of the viewer window.
Now, Left-click in the Map Display and, while holding the mouse button down, swipe a box around the area you would like to zoom in on and then release the mouse button.
The Map Display should now show a much closer view.
The same process is used when Zooming Out.
Panning Click the Pan button. This will make the cursor into an arrowed cross. Click on the map, HOLD DOWN your mouse button and drag the map to display a new area.
Getting Some Owner Information Lets get some owner information about a parcel that we can see. First, click on the Identify button (the I icon) in the tool bar along the bottom part of the viewer window.
Now click on any property that you can see in the Map Display. In the Text Display window you should now see a table that has information about that Property. Click on a few more and watch the changes. If you want to see detailed owner and tax information, click the "Click here for full real estate summary" link.
Printing For this tool to work correctly, YOU MUST ALLOW pop-ups from this site. Click the print button in the tool bar along the bottom part of the viewer window. Then, select a size for the map then click "Create Print Page". A new browser window will open with the Map Image, Overview Map Image, and Legend displayed. You can then use the File/Print menu item or the Print button on the browser window to send the display to your printer. Make sure you adjust your printer's settings to match the map print page size you selected. |
